Originally incorporated in 1988 as Eastern Abstract of N.Y., Inc. we provide complete abstracting services for a wide range of clients covering all of Western New York.  Since 1991 we have become the lead title company for the NYSDOT,  NYSDEC, and the Parks Department in Region 5. Also, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Defense contracted us for additional projects covering eight counties in central and eastern New York State. 

At the urging of the NYSDOT, we began in 1998 to offer full acquisition services for federally funded projects. To better identify our new status, we incorporated as  Eastern Right of Way Services, Inc. in 2006.       

Except for appraisal related services, Eastern Right of Way Services, Inc. prefers to keep our services ‘in-house” to better monitor progress and meet projected budgets.  Unpredictability is often the norm when conducting acquisitions, since many projects now get increased public and media attention. This, and extensive state and federal oversight requires accurate records of every detail of the process, especially negotiations. 

Since 2006, Eastern has worked with dozens of engineering firms. More notably, Eastern was the lead right of way acquisition consultant for the large Shoreline Bike trail, which involved acquiring more than 8,000 linear feet of land from the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation. This project required extensive coordination between officials from the City of Buffalo, City of Lackawanna and the County of Erie.
